FBC Wallace mission trip

We just finished up a great week with the mission team from First Baptist Wallace, which included Mom and Dad! I was so thankful to get off work for a few days to help translate and lead children's programs with them in a poor community in the country where Wally has started another church.
We started off the week with a church-wide retreat for our church, Ruta 3:16, on Sunday. This is the first time our church has ever been able to have a retreat like this! We focused on preparing yourself for marriage and how to maintain a healthy marriage (for the three married couples in the church!) and setting boundaries, such as purity before marriage. This is such an important yet ignored topic down here! It was an excellent retreat! Here are some pictures:

Then, we spent the next 3 days leading children's programs in the mornings and afternoons and feeding lunch for the kids. It's quite possibly the only meal that had all day. We had a great time playing silly games and singing songs. Mom and Dad and I were in the Bible story station. This is the first time these kids have ever had VBS at their church.

Yesterday, the team led a marriage retreat for 12 pastors and their wives from little tiny communities up in the mountains. These guys have no support whatsoever and I know it was a big treat for them to be blessed in this way. I wasn't able to go to that, so I don't have any pictures, but they said the pastors started off really shy but ended up in tears just because they were so moved that someone had taken time to care for them as they care for so many people.

Here are a couple more pictures of our short time with Mom and Dad...they really only got to see Suzy at dinner time but it was fun nonetheless.

On Thursday we went up to visit pastor Jose Luis and his family, and they have a guy from Honduras living with them for now, helping out with church. That makes 10 mouths to feed at their house now! He is a rapper, so he and dad had a rap contest. They had 5 minutes to each prepare a rap and present it. Here they are...you be the judge of the winner!! (Santos, the guy from Honduras, had Jose Luis's son help him with the breakdancing)
